How is everyone doing this? How are parents juggl How is everyone doing this?

How are parents juggling careers, school drop offs, after school activities, groceries, birthday parties and endless washing while still finding the emotional capacity to be fully present for the little people who need them most?

As my own little girl prepares to start big school, I’ve found myself thinking about time differently. Everyone says, “These years go so quickly. Enjoy every moment.” I know they mean well, but I often wonder how we’re supposed to do that when every moment already belongs to someone or something else.

The other day I asked my mum, “How did you do it?”

I definitely remember having the same squashed Vegemite sandwich in my lunchbox more times than I can count. But I don’t remember whether the washing piled up or the floors were swept.

She explained something I’d never really considered. She didn’t work full time. She wasn’t expected to keep up with school WhatsApp groups or reply to emails around the clock. My grandmother was always there, helping with my brother and me, cooking meals and quietly carrying part of the load.

That’s when it clicked.

Perhaps mums today aren’t failing at all. Perhaps they’re trying to do alone what previous generations often shared.

That conversation changed the way I think about my work.

I’m not just photographing families. I’m creating space for parents to slow down and simply enjoy one another.

Our children aren’t keeping score. They’re building memories out of moments. Out of laughter. Out of the feeling of being held.

Every family I’ve photographed tells me they’re glad they made the time, because life only seems to get busier.

The photographs are simply what remain. A reminder that, despite the busyness of modern parenthood, we still found time to stop and be together.

And perhaps that’s the most valuable thing I can give a family.
THIS is your sign to book your SESSION and INVEST THIS is your sign to book your SESSION and INVEST in yourself 🙌

Not because everything is perfect, your home is spotless or everyone has the perfect outfit.

Those things are never what make a photograph meaningful. The moments you will treasure most are the ones that are real. The cuddles on the couch, the tiny fingers wrapped around yours, the sleepy stretches, the giggles and the way your little one looks at you right now.

Time has a way of quietly slipping by. One day you are holding a newborn who fits perfectly in your arms, and before you know it they are running, talking and becoming wonderfully independent. It all changes so much faster than we ever expect.

Photographs are one of the few things that become more valuable with time. They allow you to return to a season that felt ordinary in the moment but becomes priceless in hindsight. They preserve not only how your family looked, but how it felt to love them at this stage of life.

If you have been thinking about booking a session, perhaps this is your little sign.

I would love to help you preserve this chapter in a relaxed and meaningful way, creating images that will become part of your family’s story for generations to come.

DM me today to ask for a session guide. What have you got to loose?

NMG xx

Some stories deserve to be told from the very begi Some stories deserve to be told from the very beginning.

These first images were taken just hours after Hallie was born at Prince of Wales Private Hospital, where I’m honoured to be the official maternity photographer.

She was brand new to the world.

Her parents were brand new to this version of themselves.

A couple of weeks later, I visited them at home for their newborn session.

People often wonder why new mums seem to glow despite the sleepless nights, the recovery and the huge adjustment of welcoming a baby.

It isn’t because everything is easy.

It’s because love transforms you.

There is a softness in the way she holds her baby.

A quiet confidence that grows with every cuddle, every feed and every moment together.

That is the beauty of my Birth to Home Collection.

Capturing the first precious hours in hospital and the beautiful days at home that follow.

Preserving not just how your baby changes, but how you do too.

Because motherhood deserves to be remembered from the very beginning.

If you’re giving birth at Prince of Wales Private Hospital and would like to see the in room photography options available, send me a DM with POWPM and I’ll send through all the information.
As mums, we so often become the family photographe As mums, we so often become the family photographer. We capture first steps, birthdays, holidays, cuddles on the couch and all the little moments in between because we never want to forget them. But somewhere along the way, we disappear from the story.

So many mums tell me they’ll book a session when they’re less tired, when life settles down, or when they feel more camera ready. But the truth is, motherhood rarely feels polished. It’s busy, beautiful, exhausting and wonderfully chaotic.

One day, your children won’t look back at these photographs and see that you were running on too little sleep. They won’t remember that you didn’t feel camera ready. They won’t notice the things you worried about at all.

What they will see is the way you looked at them. The way you wrapped your arms around them. The way you laughed together. The way you made them feel safe. They will see, without a single word, just how deeply and utterly they were loved.

That is why I do what I do.

For me, these have never been family photographs. They are photographs of your child’s safe place. The arms they ran to when they were scared. The smile that reassured them everything would be okay. The person who loved them without conditions, without limits, and without ever asking for anything in return.

If I can preserve that feeling, I’ve captured everything that truly matters.

Years from now, these photographs won’t simply remind your children what you looked like. They will remind them where they belonged. They will remind them what safety felt like. They will remind them what it felt like to be loved, deeply and utterly, by you.

So let this be your reminder to step in front of the camera too. One day, these photographs may become some of your children’s greatest treasures, because they won’t just see their childhood. They’ll see the person who made it feel like home.

Thank you to every family who trusted me with your Thank you to every family who trusted me with your story.

Being invited into your homes and into some of life’s most precious moments is a privilege I’ll never take for granted.
Nothing is owned, only borrowed. We spend so much Nothing is owned, only borrowed.

We spend so much of parenthood trying to hold onto moments. The tiny fingers wrapped around ours, the belly laughs, the way they run to us when they need comfort. Yet these moments were never ours to possess. They were ours to experience.

Childhood is not something we own. It is something we are invited into. For a little while, we are given a front row seat to the wonder of who our children are becoming.

The beauty is not in making it last forever. The beauty is in being present enough to notice it while it is here. To see the freckles appearing across their nose, the missing teeth, the wild curls, the expressions that are so uniquely them.

That is why photographs matter. Not because they freeze time, but because they honour it. They remind us that within the ordinary rhythm of family life, there was extraordinary love, patience, sacrifice and joy.

For nothing is ever owned, only borrowed.

And what a privilege it was to be entrusted with this beautiful family’s very first photography session. Even more special was the fact that this gorgeous mum and I once walked the same school corridors together all those years ago (too many to say publicly). Life has a funny way of bringing people back into your world. To now see her surrounded by the family she has built, and to be trusted to preserve a small piece of this chapter for them, felt incredibly meaningful.

Pictured here is the gorgeous Theo. The only baby Pictured here is the gorgeous Theo. The only baby I could not get to sleep for longer than 10 minutes.

And I loved every second of it.

“Don’t worry. I’ve got this.”

It’s what I say to almost every new mum before a newborn session, especially when they’re worried their baby won’t sleep.

Because the truth is, you don’t need to worry about any of it.

Some babies arrive and drift straight off. Some need more time in arms and feeds. And some are wide eyed, alert and completely fascinated by the world around them.

I’ve seen it all. And I know how to work with all of it. Whether your baby sleeps for three hours or barely at all, it doesn’t change what I’m there to do.

I adapt. I slow things down. I follow your baby’s cues completely. So you don’t have to think about it at all.

You just get to be with them. Because in the end, these images are not about perfect behaviour or perfect timing.

They are about your baby, exactly as they are, in this moment in time.

Not perfect by anyone else’s standards. Perfect because they are yours.

Confession: your family gallery is probably being Confession: your family gallery is probably being edited under the influence of fictional hockey players.

While I’m carefully adjusting the light, colour and tiny details in your photographs, there is a very good chance Garrett Graham is busy telling Hannah Wells that he doesn’t know how he ever lived without her, and I am absolutely lapping it up for the fifteenth time.

Professional photographer. Professional editor. Professionally obsessed with a college hockey romance series that bears absolutely no resemblance to my own thoroughly unremarkable university experience.

One thing I’ve realised is that family photographs are filled with love, connection and joy, and they deserve to be edited in that same spirit.

Maybe that sounds silly, but I genuinely believe the stories we surround ourselves with shape how we see the world. So if your gallery arrives looking a little extra warm and sentimental, there is every chance Garrett and Hannah deserve some of the credit.

If you know, you know.

I regret nothing.

Welcome to the World Rafael ✨✨ One of the first t Welcome to the World Rafael ✨✨

One of the first things so many mums say to me when they receive their gallery is, “I can’t believe how much they’ve changed already.”

I usually deliver galleries quite quickly, yet somehow even a week feels long enough for a baby to grow. A little fuller in the cheeks. A little more alert. A little different than they were when we captured those images.

As a mum myself, I feel this all the time. Sometimes I drop my girls off at school in the morning and pick them up that afternoon convinced they’ve grown. In a way that was only perceptible to me, something had changed. Maybe not just physically, but emotionally too. When I mentioned this to another mum at school drop off this morning, she told me that children don’t actually grow gradually. Scientifically, they grow in spurts. You never quite know when the next one is coming. You never know when they will leave a small part of them behind.

Raf’s beautiful Mum Elly sent through some updated pictures of little Raf this morning and, if it’s even possible, he’s somehow even cuter than he was in these images. It was such a beautiful reminder that time waits for none of us.

If you’ve ever worried that you’ve missed the newborn window, or felt a little regret about not having newborn photos taken, I want you to know something.

This isn’t about dwelling on what you missed. It’s about capturing what is here right now.

Because one day, you’ll look back at this season with the very same longing you feel for the stages that have already passed.

It’s never too late to start preserving your family’s story. The best time to capture these moments may have been yesterday. The second best time is today.

Celebrating Steph’s motherhood journey and honouri Celebrating Steph’s motherhood journey and honouring the incredible work of Lifeblood ✨✨

Some stories stay with you long after the session ends, and this is one of them.

This was my third session with Steph, and I’ve had the privilege of documenting two deeply significant chapters of her life: before Ilaria, and after.

To know someone who has experienced so much, yet still chooses to live the absolute life out of every moment, is incredibly inspiring. Steph leads with gratitude, lifts the people around her, and somehow leaves everyone better for having known her. Steph truly is a light and a force in the lives of everyone lucky enough to know her.

During our session, I remember looking at her and thinking how lucky her little girl, Ilaria is to have her as a mum.

This shoot accompanied Steph’s work with Lifeblood, which felt deeply personal to both of us because during both our pregnancies, we received blood donated by complete strangers. In a very real way, we will forever be connected by the kindness of people we will never meet, whose donations gave us the gift of motherhood. It is hard to explain the weight of that kind of generosity unless you have lived it yourself. It’s impossible not to feel immense gratitude for the people who chose to donate, without ever knowing whose lives they would touch.

Blood donation is not abstract. It’s mothers getting to hold their babies. People surviving moments they otherwise may not have survived.

If you’ve ever thought about donating through @lifebloodau , this is your sign to do it. Your donation could quite literally save a life.

And to Steph, I’m so grateful you chose me to create these memories for you ❤️

The Newborn Experience with Aurora Soul Photograph The Newborn Experience with Aurora Soul Photography ✨✨

I bring clothes for you and baby to wear so you do not have to worry about what fits or matches. I do not expect you to clean your house or have anything looking a certain way. I work baby led, which means I follow your baby’s cues, settle them when needed, and give you space to actually be in the moment with them in between those three hour newborn cycles you are caught in.

If this sounds like bliss, this is your sign to reach out and secure your session with me!

They are only this little once and these early days deserve to be remembered exactly as they are.

My newborn sessions are now almost fully booked through to July 2026.

Welcoming baby Elliott✨✨ Nobody tells you that mo Welcoming baby Elliott✨✨

Nobody tells you that motherhood is a lifetime of orbiting.

At first, your whole world revolves around them. Every cry, every feed, every sleepy sigh pulls you closer. Then, little by little, the orbit widens. They learn to walk without your hand. They make friends, form opinions, close bedroom doors, build lives that belong to them.

In almost any other role, spending years making yourself less necessary would feel absurd. Imagine pouring your heart into a job with the sole purpose of becoming redundant. Yet that is exactly what mothers do. We spend our days teaching them everything we know, helping them grow strong enough to one day need us less.

And somehow, while wishing for their independence, we ache for the days when they fit perfectly in our arms. We long for one more newborn cuddle, one more tiny hand wrapped around our finger, even as we cheer them on from the sidelines and hope they fly higher than we ever could.

That is the beautiful predicament of being a mother. To spend a lifetime learning how to hold on and let go at the very same time.

But for now, Michelle does not need to think about all the years ahead. She does not need to imagine the first day of school, the teenage years, or the moment they step out into the world on their own.

For now, she simply needs to sit quietly in this moment. To breathe in the weight of her baby against her chest. To memorise the softness, the smell, the feeling of being needed completely. Because this season, like all the others, will pass far more quickly than it feels.

And today, the orbit is still wonderfully small.

If you want to capture this small orbit with me, please reach out as my diary is almost fully booked until July 2026.

This is all momentary. The little hands that reach for you, the way they fit against your chest, the cuddles, the chaos. Then just as quickly as it comes, it changes. Quietly. Completely and without warning.

Thank you to the lovely @mirandacross__ and @cameronmurrayy for the privilege of capturing this season for your family for the first time. It’s a honour I will never take lightly.

For nine months, there is no space between you. No For nine months, there is no space between you. No separation. No distance. Only a closeness that has never been questioned.

Every breath you take reaches them. Your heartbeat is their constant, the rhythm carrying them through every moment. They do not know the world yet. They do not know light or air or the feeling of being held. They only know you.

And here you are, steady and grounded, holding that life as everything begins to shift. There is a quiet strength in this moment. Not loud or performed, just deeply present. Your body doing exactly what it is meant to do, holding, growing, sustaining.

This is not a pause before something begins. This is the beginning. You are their first home, their first sense of safety, their first experience of love.

And yet, somehow, this moment is often overlooked. Not seen for what it is. Not captured for what it holds, even though it is where everything begins.

I know how personal this is. If you are thinking about capturing this season, reach out and we can chat. Looking back, I would do anything to have captured this moment in time for myself so your can bet your ass I’m going to do everything I can to make sure other mums have this experience. I will meet you where you are and make this feel easy, natural, and entirely yours.

Welcoming a second baby… It is softer this time. Welcoming a second baby…

It is softer this time. Quieter in a way, and certainly not for everyone. Not because the love is smaller, but because it is already living in you. You have felt it before. You know what is coming, even if you cannot yet hold it or possibly understand how you will have room in your heart to love another child.

And at the same time, you find yourself looking at your first a little differently. Taking them in. The way they laugh, the way they reach for you, the way they still fit so completely into your arms. You realise just how big your love has already become, and somehow you know it is about to grow again.

You do think about the change for them. About this little person who never asked for it. But even that thought feels gentle. Because what is coming is not something taken away, it is something added. A companion. A shared world. A bond they will grow into in their own time.

You start to imagine the moments ahead. Two sets of footsteps. Two voices calling for you, probably at the same time. Laughter that overlaps. A home that feels louder, more alive.

And you wait. Not with worry, but with a quiet excitement. A deep knowing that something extraordinary is on its way. That love, once again, is about to arrive and expand everything you thought was already complete.

And to my lovely friends, Adam and Nikki, all the way from Brisbane. Thank you for the honour of being able to capture this special time as you prepare to make Billie a big sister ✨✨

Welcoming baby Grace ✨✨ There’s something truly m Welcoming baby Grace ✨✨

There’s something truly magical about being around new life. It doesn’t feel random. There’s a rhythm, a quiet energy you can feel if you pause and notice.

This gorgeous mum Lauren was so present during our session, holding Grace face to face and simply taking her in. In that quiet moment, Grace smiled, as if she could already feel her mum’s love.

This morning at POWPM the ward was buzzing. Almost every room was full, and the energy alive. The midwife told me it often happens when the atmosphere changes, like the easterly that passed through Sydney last week. When a warm or cool front moves through, it shifts air pressure, temperature and humidity. Our bodies are sensitive to these subtle changes, and for mums who are ready, it can sometimes trigger labour.

In the last month alone I have photographed six mums named Lauren and five named Alex. Out of all the names in the world, they keep finding their way to me. It feels like little miracles, small moments where everything aligns perfectly. Moments like these, the energy of a new life, the perfect timing, the little coincidences, remind us that peace is possible.

If we look closely, there are signs of peace all around us, even in a world that often doesn’t always feel like it. These moments of connection, love, and new beginnings show us that if we pause and notice, peace is always within reach.

A huge thank you to Lauren, Jason and big brother Hunter for welcoming me so warmly into this time in your lives as you welcome baby Grace, the newest addition to your family.

Welcoming baby Iris and Cleo ✨✨ Not every set of Welcoming baby Iris and Cleo ✨✨

Not every set of twins comes with a long line of “it runs in the family.” Sometimes, it just happens. Something that occurs in only around 3 or 4 in every 1,000 births… and completely by chance. And yet here they are, Iris and Cleo, arriving together with no know history to trace, no pattern to follow, just something quietly extraordinary.

I love this so much because it reminds me that not everything needs an explanation. Some things are simply meant to be.

Steph and Alex, thank you for trusting me with your beautiful girls. It’s such an honour to capture something this rare, this special, and so completely yours.

Welcoming Baby Eadie ✨✨ There is a line in a Tayl Welcoming Baby Eadie ✨✨

There is a line in a Taylor Swift song that stays with me (there are actually many). Write what you know, looking backwards.

As a mother I am starting to understand what that really means. At any given time, you rarely know what a moment really is. You are in it, moving through it, tired, distracted, doing what needs to be done. It just feels like another day. It is only later, with a bit of distance, that it settles into something else. The small things take on weight. The ordinary becomes irreplaceable. You start to see it clearly for what it was.

I feel that tension more and more. Aware that these are the moments I will one day wish I could return to, yet still inside them, still learning how to see them as they are. With my girls so close together in age, it feels even sharper. One moves on from a phase just as the other is stepping into it. You are leaving something behind while still living it, holding both at once. It makes time feel visible in a way that is hard to ignore, and yet in noticing that, I sometimes miss the chance to fully honour what is in front of me now.

Because one day, despite how hard these days can feel, I know I will look back and recognise them for what they were. Not the in between. Not the messy middle. But the golden years. That is why it matters to capture it, not later, not when things slow down, not when it feels easier, but now, while it is still unfolding.

Lauren and Tom invited me into this exact moment as they welcomed their second little girl, Eadie. There was a quiet steadiness in them, the kind that comes from having done this before, but also a softness as they found their way as a family of four. Georgie moved around it all with a kind of gentle curiosity, watching, learning, already stepping into her role as big sister in a way that felt instinctive rather than taught. And Eadie, so new, so small, already completely held within it all.

Thank you to Lauren, Tom, big sister Georgie, and beautiful Eadie for letting me step into this moment with you.

One feels like one. Two can feel like ten. By thre One feels like one. Two can feel like ten. By three, something settles.

Welcoming baby Dexter✨✨

This beautiful family invited me into both their hospital room and their home as part of the Hospital to Home Collection, capturing these first moments as they unfolded. There’s something about a third baby that feels different. A little calmer. A little more certain. Like everyone knows their place without needing to figure it out.

When I walked in, mum and dad were side by side watching a series, just letting time pass before heading home to their precious world. Not rushing. Just soaking in those last quiet moments.

What I love most about these sessions, and this package, is getting to witness a family becoming in real time. When we met in the hospital, Dex didn’t even have a name yet. By the time he was home, he had a name, a place, and a whole world waiting for him, including siblings already completely in love.

And what a welcome he had waiting.

Dexter’s big sisters were completely in love. No hesitation. Just instant connection. Curious, gentle, protective in that way only siblings can be. You could already see the shape of their bond forming.

These images now hold that transition. From those first unnamed moments to being home, surrounded and known.

There’s something really special about watching a family grow like this. Not just bigger, but more settled into itself.

Not more. Just more of what was already there.
