Welcoming baby Grace ✨✨ There’s something truly m Welcoming baby Grace ✨✨

There’s something truly magical about being around new life. It doesn’t feel random. There’s a rhythm, a quiet energy you can feel if you pause and notice.

This gorgeous mum Lauren was so present during our session, holding Grace face to face and simply taking her in. In that quiet moment, Grace smiled, as if she could already feel her mum’s love.

This morning at POWPM the ward was buzzing. Almost every room was full, and the energy alive. The midwife told me it often happens when the atmosphere changes, like the easterly that passed through Sydney last week. When a warm or cool front moves through, it shifts air pressure, temperature and humidity. Our bodies are sensitive to these subtle changes, and for mums who are ready, it can sometimes trigger labour.

In the last month alone I have photographed six mums named Lauren and five named Alex. Out of all the names in the world, they keep finding their way to me. It feels like little miracles, small moments where everything aligns perfectly. Moments like these, the energy of a new life, the perfect timing, the little coincidences, remind us that peace is possible.

If we look closely, there are signs of peace all around us, even in a world that often doesn’t always feel like it. These moments of connection, love, and new beginnings show us that if we pause and notice, peace is always within reach.

A huge thank you to Lauren, Jason and big brother Hunter for welcoming me so warmly into this time in your lives as you welcome baby Grace, the newest addition to your family.

Welcoming baby Iris and Cleo ✨✨ Not every set of Welcoming baby Iris and Cleo ✨✨

Not every set of twins comes with a long line of “it runs in the family.” Sometimes, it just happens. Something that occurs in only around 3 or 4 in every 1,000 births… and completely by chance. And yet here they are, Iris and Cleo, arriving together with no know history to trace, no pattern to follow, just something quietly extraordinary.

I love this so much because it reminds me that not everything needs an explanation. Some things are simply meant to be.

Steph and Alex, thank you for trusting me with your beautiful girls. It’s such an honour to capture something this rare, this special, and so completely yours.

Welcoming Baby Eadie ✨✨ There is a line in a Tayl Welcoming Baby Eadie ✨✨

There is a line in a Taylor Swift song that stays with me (there are actually many). Write what you know, looking backwards.

As a mother I am starting to understand what that really means. At any given time, you rarely know what a moment really is. You are in it, moving through it, tired, distracted, doing what needs to be done. It just feels like another day. It is only later, with a bit of distance, that it settles into something else. The small things take on weight. The ordinary becomes irreplaceable. You start to see it clearly for what it was.

I feel that tension more and more. Aware that these are the moments I will one day wish I could return to, yet still inside them, still learning how to see them as they are. With my girls so close together in age, it feels even sharper. One moves on from a phase just as the other is stepping into it. You are leaving something behind while still living it, holding both at once. It makes time feel visible in a way that is hard to ignore, and yet in noticing that, I sometimes miss the chance to fully honour what is in front of me now.

Because one day, despite how hard these days can feel, I know I will look back and recognise them for what they were. Not the in between. Not the messy middle. But the golden years. That is why it matters to capture it, not later, not when things slow down, not when it feels easier, but now, while it is still unfolding.

Lauren and Tom invited me into this exact moment as they welcomed their second little girl, Eadie. There was a quiet steadiness in them, the kind that comes from having done this before, but also a softness as they found their way as a family of four. Georgie moved around it all with a kind of gentle curiosity, watching, learning, already stepping into her role as big sister in a way that felt instinctive rather than taught. And Eadie, so new, so small, already completely held within it all.

Thank you to Lauren, Tom, big sister Georgie, and beautiful Eadie for letting me step into this moment with you.

Welcoming baby Dexter✨✨

This beautiful family invited me into both their hospital room and their home as part of the Hospital to Home Collection, capturing these first moments as they unfolded. There’s something about a third baby that feels different. A little calmer. A little more certain. Like everyone knows their place without needing to figure it out.

When I walked in, mum and dad were side by side watching a series, just letting time pass before heading home to their precious world. Not rushing. Just soaking in those last quiet moments.

What I love most about these sessions, and this package, is getting to witness a family becoming in real time. When we met in the hospital, Dex didn’t even have a name yet. By the time he was home, he had a name, a place, and a whole world waiting for him, including siblings already completely in love.

And what a welcome he had waiting.

Dexter’s big sisters were completely in love. No hesitation. Just instant connection. Curious, gentle, protective in that way only siblings can be. You could already see the shape of their bond forming.

These images now hold that transition. From those first unnamed moments to being home, surrounded and known.

There’s something really special about watching a family grow like this. Not just bigger, but more settled into itself.

Not more. Just more of what was already there.

Celebrating The Clapham Family ✨✨ A few weekends Celebrating The Clapham Family ✨✨

A few weekends ago I was invited to capture this gorgeous family on their farm just outside Byron. The beautiful valley, the farmhouse, Lochie the horse, even the snake skins under the porch. It was perfect in the most real way.

What made this session even more special is that Lauren and Tom had just celebrated their ten year anniversary. I always find it fascinating how life can turn on the smallest leap of faith.

Ten years ago, almost to the day of this shoot, Lauren stole Tom’s beer at the Big Day Out. In that moment he knew she was the person he would end up with.

And here they are now, two kids in and a family of their own. It always amazes me how the smallest moments can quietly reshape an entire life. A decision, a conversation, or in Lauren and Tom’s case, a beer, which turns a stranger into family.

When I photograph families I always begin by helping the kids feel comfortable with me. With Liam and Banjo, that meant sitting down and playing a game of Fish together before anything else. Soon enough we were outside swinging high on the old farm swing and climbing and playing on the little gate to nowhere, laughing the whole time.

One of the biggest worries parents share with me is that their kids might not behave. And my answer is always the same. Leave it to me. Because we don’t actually want them to be perfect angels, we want them to be themselves. And that is the beauty of it all.

Because one day it will not be the perfect poses you remember. It will be the laughter, the muddy feet, the belly laughs, the swing soaring through the air, the gate to nowhere, and the way they ran across the paddock without a care in the world.

These are the moments that pass quietly while we are busy living them. And these are the photographs that will carry you back to this chapter again and again.

Waiting for Baby Boogart ✨✨ Photographing this se Waiting for Baby Boogart ✨✨

Photographing this season felt different from the very beginning.

It was just mum and dad in the Byron rainforest, wrapped in quiet and green light, taking one intentional night together before their world expands again.

With a third baby, there is an acute awareness of how quickly it all goes. They know the newborn days are a blur. They know the tiny kicks will soon be tiny cries and then running feet. They have lived it twice before, and that lived experience changes everything. There is less rushing and more presence. Less assumption of time and more gratitude for it.

You can see that awareness in the way Alice holds herself. Grounded. Certain. Close.

This was more than a babymoon. It was a pause. A breath. A moment to honour everything they have already built and everything that is about to unfold.

Capturing this calm before their family becomes five felt incredibly special.

Officially Introducing Engagement Sessions ✨✨ One Officially Introducing Engagement Sessions ✨✨

One thing I often find myself reflecting on when I see people get engaged or married is the quiet series of decisions that led to that exact moment in time. The invisible threads. The near misses. How many times did they pass each other in the street, stand in the same bar, or hover over the same swipe before their paths finally aligned?

At a time where everyone seems to have a conspiracy theory, I sometimes wonder if one day technology will be able to trace those hidden overlaps for us. Maybe there will be a way to look back and see the exact moments when two lives began weaving invisible strings toward each other. All the almosts that slowly became inevitability.

I believe deeply in divine timing. When the moment is right, two souls recognise each other. I felt that so strongly with these two beautiful humans. Hearing their story and then being trusted to translate that feeling into an engagement session felt incredibly meaningful.

Since sharing this session, I have had so many beautiful messages and enquiries that I have decided to open one engagement session each month within my work. It may not be traditional for me, but I love the idea of honouring a woman’s journey not only as she becomes a mother, but the woman she is just prior. The chapter before everything changes. The quiet space where identity, hope, and possibility all exist at once.

Whatever the future may bring, imagine being able to return to this moment and remember just how much love formed the foundation of your relationship. Imagine being able to hold onto the feeling of being newly engaged, not just as a memory, but as something you can come back to forever.

If you have recently become engaged and feel drawn to something like this, I would love to hear from you. And if you are searching for a truly meaningful engagement gift, this just might be it...

When this incredible mum, Christine first enquired When this incredible mum, Christine first enquired about a family session, we were about fifteen minutes into our conversation when she mentioned she has seven boys under the age of thirteen. I am not going to lie, I had a brief moment where I wondered whether I could truly deliver what she was hoping for. But I know my work, and I know that what matters most to me is capturing families as they are right now, in the middle of their real lives.

Christine told me she had always wanted a family session, simply to honour this season of life. Still, it had always felt like too big a task to take on. Too many moving parts. Too much energy. Too much to manage all at once. On one sunny afternoon, just before Christmas we made this happen.

Watching them walk down the beach towards me, I noticed how people naturally turned to look. There was a quiet strength about her. Not loud or performative, but grounded and assured.

Something I pride myself on is capturing families exactly where they are right now. That means giving children the space to be themselves, without forcing or shaping them, and knowing how to gently bring that out. While I always try to place mum at the centre of the shoot, what inevitably happens is that this is the case anyway. It is almost a metaphor for the role mums play in their children’s lives. The boys moved in and out around Christine with ease. No matter how far they wondered, they were always aware of her presence and always came back to her.

Throughout the session, Christine moved instinctively between her boys. A hand on a shoulder. A quick cuddle. She met each of them where they were, and they trusted her completely.

This is what every mother really wants. Not images with big fake smiles but a time capsule. A way to remember what this season actually felt like. The noise. The closeness. The movement. The connection.

So if Christine can do it with seven boys, if she can step into something she once believed was too hard and walk away with something meaningful, then the question becomes simple. What are you waiting for?

Celebrating Mor in her Two Crowns Session. Work an Celebrating Mor in her Two Crowns Session. Work and motherhood.

The start of a new year carries a quiet reset. School bags by the door. Lunch boxes packed again.

It feels like a line in the sand. Not just for them, but for us.

So many mums hold two crowns at once. Building careers. Raising families. Carrying everyone forward while quietly putting themselves on pause.

Our children are always watching. Not just how hard we work, but how we care for ourselves. How we listen to our bodies. How we respond when life gives us the chance to begin again.

Mor’s story lives right in this moment. After a doctor told her something many women hear, often too late. She needed to take better care of her body. That conversation became a turning point.

Through Pilates, Mor found more than strength. She found reconnection. To her body. To herself. To a new path.

She is now finishing her Pilates instructor course and preparing to offer small group classes, with a focus on outdoor sessions by the beach. Gentle strength. Intentional movement. Care that fits into real life.

As our kids head back to school and routines return, this season offers us an opening too. A chance to choose ourselves without guilt. To model something powerful. That health matters. That listening matters. That starting again is allowed.

Two crowns can coexist. Motherhood and self respect. Work and wellbeing. Care for others and care for self.

And sometimes the New Year is not about becoming someone new. It is about finally making space for who you already are.

If you are ready for your 2 Crowns session, reach out today.

Welcoming Baby Paige + Willow Twins are more com Welcoming Baby Paige + Willow

Twins are more common than people realise. In Australia, around one in every 70 births is a set of twins, at POWP Maternity, this drops down to 1 in every 65 births. We see them everywhere now, and yet each one still feels like a small miracle. Two lives arriving side by side, already learning the rhythm of each other.

In 2025, I photographed five sets of twins, and each time I noticed the same gentle truth. Each bond has its own shape, its own language, its own way of moving through the world together.

There is a name for the way twins find each other before words do. Cryptophasia. It lives in sounds, looks, and small gestures. Understanding formed through constant closeness and time spent side by side, long before the wider world steps in and teaches them how to speak. It is how they say, I know you. I am here. I felt this in every twin session. Time and again, when given the chance, they reached for each other’s hands. Imagine beginning life with that kind of certainty. That kind of closeness.

To Storm and Dave, thank you for trusting me to capture this moment with all your beautiful girls. And to Harper, the sweetest big sister. So gentle, so sure, so full of love it felt as though she had always been waiting for them. It is no wonder the universe sent this family two more girls. They already knew how to make one feel perfectly held.

If you are looking to book a Newborn session with me I am now almost fully booked until March 2026 so please reach out early because I’m keen to make your baby’s entry into this world extra special.

Introducing ‘The First Hours’ Session at POWP Mate Introducing ‘The First Hours’ Session at POWP Maternity ✨✨

You will always remember the day your child was born. That memory belongs to you forever. Nothing can take it away. But memories can soften with time and fade around the edges.

There is something powerful about having something tangible to return to. A photograph does not replace a memory. It holds it in place. It gives it shape years later when you are trying to remember how small they were, how they fit against your chest, how the room felt when everything else fell away and it was just you and them.

We instinctively document the days that matter. We photograph weddings, milestones and celebrations because we know how quickly life moves. The day your child enters the world is no different. In many ways, it is the most important day of all.

In those first hours after birth, you are not polished. You are in a hospital gown. You are tired, but you are flooded with endorphins, and the only thing you feel is love. The only thing you see is your baby. In that moment, everything resets. You are given a clean slate.

One day, your child will be grown. Taller than you. Their hands no longer fitting inside yours. You will remember the day they were born. And you will have something to show them. Proof of just how deeply loved they were from the very beginning.

Pictured here is baby Rafferty, just four hours old. He knew no world beyond his mum and dad’s skin, and he is loved beyond measure. It is always a privilege, but this session is one I will never forget. These are the photographs I wish I had from those earliest hours with my own girls, and it is the reason I want to create this experience for other families. Thank you, Raffi, for inspiring this session.

This moment happens only once. Having these images allows that beginning to live on, not just in memory, but in something you can hold and one day share.

If an in room ‘The First Hours’ session is something that interests you, or if you are looking for a meaningful gift as a grandparent, family member or friend please reach out to find out how we can make this happen.
Welcoming baby Maya ✨✨ We often believe there wil Welcoming baby Maya ✨✨

We often believe there will be another moment. Another chance to go again.

In Jay Kelly, a successful movie star confronts his past, his strained relationships, and the legacy of a life lived in the spotlight. At the very end, he asks, “Can we go again?” as if his life were just another take in a film. The question lingers because it comes too late. It holds the realisation that the moment has already passed, that what mattered most was unfolding quietly while his attention was elsewhere.

That question is why photography matters to me.

Life does not slow down for us to notice it. Pregnancy moves forward in its own rhythm, a body changing day by day, holding life for a brief and extraordinary season. Children grow slowly and then all at once. Their sweet voices deepen. Their single words turn into sentences, and one day they pronounce a word correctly that they once said wrong. A version of them fades before we even realise it is happening.

Families change shape almost without warning. One day you look up and sense that the season you were living in has already shifted. I felt this with my own girls just over the summer break.

When I photograph mothers and families, I am not only trying to freeze time. I am paying close attention before it moves on. To the softness. The closeness. The love that feels ordinary now but will one day live only in memory.

So let 2026 be the year you choose not to wait. The year you notice what is here. The year you allow your precious moments to be remembered.

I am now fully booked until mid February 2026, so please reach out if you would like to make 2026 the year you invest in your family’s memories ✨✨

There is a quiet sensuality to pregnancy that ofte There is a quiet sensuality to pregnancy that often goes unspoken. The softness, the confidence, the way a woman settles more fully into her body as it becomes a place of creation. Shani, you radiate this. There is an ease in the way you move, a warmth in the way you hold yourself, a presence that fills the space around you.

Something I found out recently is that as he grows, tiny cells move between you and him through the placenta. Your body sends cells to support his life, and some of his cells return to you, becoming part of you too. A physical connection that begins now and stays long after this season ends.

My sessions are never about capturing a bump. I wanted to honour the way you glow, the quiet strength in your body, and the way you are already his home.

Thank you to Shani and Taz for choosing me to capture this moment in time as you await the arrival of your baby.
Over the last few days, as we prepare to send our Over the last few days, as we prepare to send our girls back to school, I have felt like my heart is living in a thousand tiny places at once.

As we prepared for my eldest daughter, Charli to return back to school, there are the soft conversations about new classrooms and unfamiliar teachers to help prepare her emotionally for the transition. The grocery orders to make sure their favourite snacks are there when they open their bags. The labelling of e.v.e.r.y little thing, the spare clothes tucked away, the invisible work we do to make their big world feel a little easier and familiar.

This morning, like every parent, as I walked out of the school gates, I whispered a prayer for her. For her safety. For her to be kind. For her to feel brave. For her to grow and thrive in the place we have chosen for her.

The holidays have seen moments of pure magic and rainbows. And there were also days I was completely spent from being a constant snack provider and activity organiser for two little girls. Days when I wondered quietly if I am getting any of this right at all. I know so many mums carry that same question in their hearts.

My mind went back to a beautiful session late last year with this gorgeous family, the Diamonds. Their two boys were gentle with each other, funny, and deeply kind. Watching them interact was absolute magic and I really did think about what an incredible job these amazing parents were doing raising these boys. Maybe somewhere between modelling the behaviour we hope to see, labelling lunchboxes, and praying over them as they walk into the world, I think that is the quiet proof that we are doing okay.

So as my eldest heads back today and my youngest follows next week, my heart is with every parent standing at the school gates. May every child feel safe, protected and held in the places they learn and grow.

Welcoming baby Ilaria ✨✨ There is something deepl Welcoming baby Ilaria ✨✨

There is something deeply meaningful about returning to photograph the same mum across two moments in time. A maternity session is filled with possibility, a quiet pause to honour what is coming and the life about to change forever.

Coming back for the newborn session, everything felt different. Steph radiated gratitude and was completely present, savouring every moment with baby Ilaria. She had endured a difficult birth, something she has bravely shared on her own page, and while you would never know it just by looking at her because she was absolutely glowing, you could feel it in the room. The way she held Ilaria with such calm and intention. The quiet looks exchanged between her and Gian. The way this little family moved together with such depth and connection. Adversity has a way of connecting and binding, deepening love in ways nothing else can.

Every story is different, but the coming together of a family is always extraordinary. These sessions are never just about photographs. They are about holding space for a season that passes so quickly yet changes everything forever.

Thank you @stephjoottavio and @gianottavio for trusting me with something so personal. It is a privilege I am deeply grateful for.

Celebrating Dionne with 2 Crowns ✨✨ I have known Celebrating Dionne with 2 Crowns ✨✨

I have known of Dionne for a few years through the magical parties she created and because our children were in the same class. A few months ago she asked if I could photograph an event for her, and watching her that day stayed with me. I saw the love she puts into every detail, the calm way she works and the joy she brings to families. Her work comes straight from the heart.

Dionne is the soul behind Only Play, a business that creates imaginative, thoughtful and beautifully curated experiences for children. She takes away the pressure parents carry and replaces it with ease, wonder and memories that become part of a family’s story.

After her event, I knew I wanted her for my daughter’s Frozen themed party. What she gave me that day is something I will always hold close. As a working mum, I am not always as present as I want to be. But because of her, I spent the entire day simply being with my daughter. No organising, no rushing, just holding her and soaking in her joy. That gift of presence is something she gives to every mother she works with.

Her Two Crowns session felt deeply special because it allowed me to honour her in return. These sessions celebrate the woman and the mother, the two crowns she wears with such grace. Having her children, Jordie and Mikalya, join us made it even more meaningful. They often see the planning and the lists, but this time they saw the magic itself. They saw their mum’s creativity and the joy she gives to so many families.

It was a privilege to capture her in that light and to reflect the beauty she brings into the world.

Are you a working mum who wants to share your world with your children and show them the magic you create? Reach out today and we can start planning your session from February 2026.

Tonight at bedtime, as I lay beside my four year o Tonight at bedtime, as I lay beside my four year old and waited for her to fall asleep, against all wisdom and parenting advice, she turned to me and said that she had been sad at preschool today because she missed me. Then she told me that her best friend Zara had said, “You don’t have to be sad, because your mummy and your hearts are one.”

And whilst this might sound childish, I believe her. I believe this not as a sweet idea but as a quiet and unshakeable truth. For eight months and three weeks our heartbeats lived side by side, two steady rhythms sharing the same small world. That closeness did not end when she was born. It is carried into every day that followed, into the way she looks for me, into the way she knows me, into the way her heart finds its calm.

I believe this is true for every child and every mother. There is a bond formed long before words, long before memory, long before the world has had a chance to shape them. A connection that does not fade simply because a child grows, or steps into new spaces, or begins to understand separation. The hearts remember. The love remains.

And to Lozzy and her little boy, still on his way, already known, already loved, already held close in ways words cannot measure. May your hearts be forever one. May that first shared rhythm carry him gently through life and always be held by the invisible thread that binds him back to the one who first gave him life.

This is the quiet truth of motherhood. That even when our children learn to stand apart, to step into their own light, their hearts still know the way back. They always will.

Welcoming baby Thea at POWP Maternity ✨✨ In life Welcoming baby Thea at POWP Maternity ✨✨

In life there are only a few moments that stop time. The kind of moments where the world becomes quiet and the meaning of everything shifts. Photographing newborns for a little while now has taught me how rare those moments are, but working in the rooms at POWP Maternity has shown me that they often appear in the very first hours of a new life, before anyone has caught their breath.

Just this week, I captured an eight year old boy meeting his baby sister for the first time. He stepped into the room and everything in him changed. The instant he saw her he held his breath. His eyes filled with tears he did not yet understand. He looked at her with the kind of wonder that only happens once. He may forget that moment as he grows older but his parents now have it preserved forever.

I saw a baby boy who was only four hours old, resting in his parents arms as they held him against their skin. Their tear filled eyes met often during our session with a joy that felt too big for words. I captured a rainbow baby being welcomed into the world with overwhelming love. I saw families realising in real time that life had just expanded in ways they could not have imagined the day before.

Those first hours and days are filled with emotion that is raw and honest and beautiful. They are filled with moments that happen once and never repeat. Every family arrives with a different story and I tailor an experience to each family in that same way. Every session is created around what this moment means to you.

These moments do not wait. They do not come back. If you want your family to hold on to the very beginning of your story, reach out today.
